Second Chemical and Biological Engineering High School Competition

This competition is open to high school students in Grades 10–12 in the UAE.

OBJECTIVES

The Challenge

At this informative and engaging competition, students will:

  • explore more about chemical and biological engineering
  • learn about practical skills in chemical and biological engineering
  • engage in hands-on experimental activities on water treatment
  • work collaboratively in teams
  • interact with students from other schools
  • enjoy an unforgettable campus experience at AUS

In this competition, students are required to design and construct a small-scale packed-bed water treatment setup that is able to filter suspended materials from simulated wastewater. Students must utilize natural, recyclable and/or ordinary solid material of their own choice to create the packed bed. The setup must be able to filter one liter of wastewater containing 10g of chalk/calcium carbonate.

How to Participate

Please complete this form to register for the competition.
Teams are limited to a maximum of four students per group from the same school. Multiple groups from the same school are allowed.

Registration Deadline: Friday, October 20, 2023

Competition rules and judging criteria will be announced after the registration deadline is closed.

Cost: Free of charge. We have a limited capacity and teams will be selected based on the statement of interest.
