The Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) is the world's largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the profession. Committed to providing leadership for the application, education, training, research, and development of industrial and systems engineering.
The Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering University Regional Conference (IISE Regional Conference) will be held on January 31, 2026. It will be organized by the Department of Industrial Engineering at the American University of Sharjah.
This is a great experience to facilitate professional and personal development while providing a forum for both students and professionals. Our agenda will include facility tours, professional development workshops, technical writing competitions, industry speakers, and networking socials.
Objectives
The main objectives of the conference are to:
- Provide a forum for the presentation of student papers reflecting undergraduate research and industry-based projects.
- Stimulate research and creative thinking through team competitions.
- Promote leadership, communication, and organization skills.
- Develop networking skills and contacts.
- Strengthen communication among chapters within the region and with IISE.
- It is the first time this event is hosted and organized in the UAE and the GCC region.

Batool Madani
Transportation and Logistics Researcher, UITP
Dr. Batool Madani holds a Ph.D. degree in Engineering Systems Management from the American University of Sharjah. She is currently a researcher at the UITP MENA regional office. She formerly worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and teaching assistant, delivering courses to undergraduate and graduate students while also supervising senior projects. Her research is oriented toward transportation, addressing the challenges of firstand last-mile connectivity and last-mile delivery. She is also focusing on implementation challenges and strategies of sustainable and technology-driven transportation modes such as electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and drones. Aside from her main research projects, Dr. Batool is interested in logistics, sustainability, urban mobility, supply chain management, and blockchain. She contributed to the authorship of perceptive research papers, publishing several articles in reputable journals and presenting her research at renowned conferences. In addition, Dr. Batool participates in organizing conferences, moderating conference sessions, and reviewing academic papers.

In addition to the main conference program, participants will have the option to join a Social Night Desert Trip, offering a unique opportunity to network and unwind in an iconic Arabian desert setting. While attendance at the IISE Regional Conference 2026 is free, participation in the social night requires a separate fee. This optional evening experience will take attendees beyond the conference venue for an unforgettable desert outing, featuring informal networking, traditional refreshments, and a relaxed atmosphere under the stars. The social night is designed to foster meaningful connections among students, professionals, and speakers in a culturally rich and memorable environment.
