In recent years, the surge in large-scale fires across diverse building types and industrial complexes has underscored the critical need to enhance fire and life safety practices. As buildings become taller and more intricate, the complexities of fire prevention, detection, protection, investigation, and management have evolved significantly. Moreover, the rapid adoption of new sustainable materials and technologies, such as green construction methods, Lithium-Ion Batteries, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and robotics, has introduced novel fire risks that demand careful consideration and innovative solutions.

To address these emerging challenges, the Riad Al-Sadek Endowed Chair in Civil Engineering is proud to announce "The First Symposium on Recent Advances in Fire and Life Safety," organized in partnership with the Sharjah Civil Defense Authority. This two-day event is designed to convene leading international and local experts, engineers, architects, and safety professionals to explore the latest advancements in fire and life safety.

On Day 1 (Symposium), we will cover general topics, including an in-depth look at how AI and robotics can be integrated into firefighting operations to enhance decision-making, real-time response, and fire suppression. Day 2 (Workshop) will feature specialized workshops, offering participants hands-on experience with the latest AI technologies and practical strategies for enhancing fire and life safety in both new and existing buildings.
