AUS Silver Jubilee Campus Tour

Library

A place for quiet study and contemplation or collaborative group work, our regionally acclaimed library is a favorite campus spot for many AUSers.

Here are some interesting facts about the AUS library, its origin and operations:

  • The AUS library was constructed in 2004. Prior to being housed in its own facility, the library was initially located in the current Performing Arts Building and later the Main Building.

  • The original design of the library featured a large golden dome, however this was removed so as to not overshadow the dome of the Main Building. It features 8,750 square meters of usable space over three floors.

  • The longest-serving library staff member is Library Clerk Vincent Mani, who joined AUS on April 1, 1997. Thank you for 25 years together, Vincent!

  • The library's initial collection included 9,000 publications. Today, it holds 137,537 print books, 389 journal titles, over 700,000 e-books and over 100,000 e-journal titles.

  • On average, the AUS Library loans out 33,180 publications each year.

  • The library delivers an average of 167 Information Literacy and Research Instruction sessions and 28 workshops to students and members of the AUS community per year.

  • On average, 1,411 reference questions are answered at the Library Help Desk in person or online per year.
