AUS Silver Jubilee Campus Tour
Main Auditorium
AUS's 900-seater Main Auditorium has hosted some of the world's most prominent speakers, performers and personalities.
From Nelson Mandela to our very own UAE astronauts Hazza AlMansouri and Sultan Al Neyadi, we've hosted some impressive guests here in the Main Auditorium.
Nelson Mandela visits AUS
When Mandela visited on May 26, 2001, he was joined by His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan AlQasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. The Main Auditorium was packed beyond capacity with visitors who traveled from all over the UAE to hear from the former South African president and anti-apartheid revolutionary.
One AUS staff member recalled, "It was probably the most inspirational speech I ever heard! The whole auditorium was mesmerized and there was complete silence when he spoke."
Another said, "I have never witnessed a longer standing ovation. It was truly a privilege to be part of that moment."
