Under the theme "Everything Is AI Now," this year's symposium offers a platform for researchers, practitioners and innovators to share insights and discuss AI's impact on the future of auditing and reporting. With the growing demand for reliable financial information, WCARS 2025 will bring together global experts to debate AI’s practical applications in this critical field.
Keynote Speaker: Professor Miklos Vasarhelyi
We are honored to have Professor Miklos Vasarhelyi as our keynote speaker. Known for his pioneering work in continuous auditing and AI applications in accounting, Professor Vasarhelyi directs the Rutgers Accounting Research Center and Continuous Auditing and Reporting Lab. His insights, drawn from years of research and collaboration with major corporations like Siemens and KPMG, will provide a compelling overview of how AI is reshaping global auditing practices.
Call for Papers
This year’s WCARS conference will focus on contributions that delve into the intersection of AI and accounting. We welcome submissions on topics including, but not limited to:
- Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics in Auditing
- AI-Driven Continuous Auditing
- Generative AI in Financial Reporting
- AI for Enhanced Risk Assessment
- Advanced AI Techniques for Fraud Detection
- AI and Ethical Standards in Accounting
- Integration of AI with Blockchain for Auditing
Proposal Criteria
Initial proposals are limited to five single-spaced pages of text, excluding references, tables, and figures. Full papers are also welcome. All types of research design and methodologies are welcome.
Submission Deadline: Extended to December 31, 2024
Notification of Acceptance: January 31, 2025
Full Paper Submission Deadline: February 10, 2025
This conference is co-hosted by the Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting (JETA) and Rutgers University’s Continuous Auditing and Reporting Lab (CAR Lab).
Submission Instructions
Interested in presenting at WCARS 2025? Submit your proposals by emailing Eid Alotaibi at ealotaibi@aus.edu, and cc in the forum editor, Miklos Vasarhelyi, at miklosv@business.rutgers.edu. Ensure your proposal meets the outlined criteria.
Review Criteria
- Literature review and development of the research question
- Clear identification of stakeholders and the value added by the project
- Description of the research methodology and why it "works" for the project
- Complete outline of the research idea, including hypotheses, research questions or design artifacts
- Next steps in project development
Please note: Meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance of the paper.
Registration Fees
- Early-bird registration fees: $200 (Early-bird registration fees apply to each participant who registers before December 30, 2024)
- Registration fees: $250 (The registration fees applies to each participant who registers between December 31, 2024 and Feb 22, 2025)
- Presenters: $150
- Graduate Students: $50

Important Notes
Security Clearance
Conference presenters in the UAE must obtain security clearance and will be asked to complete a clearance form. You will also need to provide a copy of your passport for authorities closer to the conference date. AUS will work with you to manage this process.
Visas
Conference presenters are responsible for obtaining their own visas, if applicable.
About Future Labs
In alignment with the innovative spirit of Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works®, the Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting (JETA) has announced a special call for papers under its Future Labs initiative. WCARS 2025 is responding to this call by focusing on fast-tracked, innovative research at the intersection of AI and accounting, encouraging the development of prototype research studies that push the boundaries of current understanding.
JETA Publication Opportunity
Selected papers from the conference will be considered for publication in a special section of the Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting (JETA).The final decision on publication will be made by the editors based on the paper's fit with the journal's scope.
