Overview

The 2024 American Society for Quality EMEA Region (ASQ EMEA 2024) conference is organized by the American Society of Quality (ASQ)-EMEA region and hosted by American University of Sharjah (AUS). The theme of the conference is “Reimagining Quality in the Digital Era: People, Practices and Standards.” The aim of the conference is to bring together quality practitioners and researchers to disseminate and discuss state-of-the-art advancements in the fields of quality engineering and management. Building on the success of previous conferences, this event will feature participation from distinguished speakers from around the world who specialize in various disciplines of quality engineering and management. The conference will also include keynote speeches from esteemed leaders and professionals in the field of quality.

The 2024 EMEA ASQ conference program will include guest speakers, panelists, posters, and exhibitions focusing on, but not limited to, the following topics:

    • quality management
    • excellence programs
    • quality trends and standards
    • quality innovation
    • quality applications in manufacturing and service
    • role of quality in building a sustainable future
    • digital transformation

Call for Speakers

Speakers are welcome to propose topics to be presented at the 2024 ASQ EMEA conference. Presentations requirements are:

  1. Topics should be in line with the conference theme “Reimagining Quality in the Digital Era: People, Practices and Standards.” Suggested topics include:
    • quality management
    • excellence programs
    • quality trends and standards
    • quality innovation
    • quality applications in manufacturing and service
    • role of quality in building a sustainable future
    • digital transformation 
  1. Presentations should not include marketing/commercial material.
  2. Presentation duration should be less than 25 minutes.
  3. Proposals are welcome before October 30, 2023.

Student Competition

EMEA ASQ Student Competition                                                                    

Objective: The EMEA ASQ Student Competition highlights undergraduate and graduate students’ efforts and contribution to improve local service quality, which in return improves quality of life for all.

Project Theme: Utilization of quality methods and techniques to improve quality of manufacturing and service organizations.

Competition Rules

There are two levels of the competition: undergraduate and graduate level. To compete, a team of up to four students should submit a short-recorded virtual presentation of the project. The presentation is limited to 10 minutes and should clearly state the problem, objective, methodology and tools used, results and conclusions. Selected top three presentations will have the chance to be presented during the EMEA ASQ conference.

Awards will be based on report and presentation quality. A judging committee consisting of industry and academia will select the winners at the conclusion of the competition.

The organization selected can be public (governmental) or private. Each team will be judged based on the following deliverables:

  1. Selection of CTQ and significance of problem tackled
  2. Utilization of proper quality improvement tools
  3. Innovation of improvement alternatives
  4. Validity of conclusions and applicability of proposed changes
  5. Results of project implementation
  6. Team presentation and communication skills
